Nepal - Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trek (21 days)

Mt. Everest the highest peak in the world also known as Sagarmatha, which means higher than the sky. The trek to Everest Base Camp is the majestic walk in the land of the Himalayas. Trekking through the Everest region offers surprising and hidden mountain views, and opportunities to get a glimpse into the culture and lifestyle of The Sherpas (World Famous Mountain climbers).

This itinerary is a guideline only and we will follow the itinerary as far as possible but due to weather conditions, health conditions, natural disasters and other unfavorable phenomenon your guide might decide to amend or cancel the itinerary for your own safety. Your guide will help you at any time with providing information regarding conditions and safety during the treks.

Welcome! to Kathmandu Nepal. Asian Heritage Treks & Travel Representative welcome you at the Airport with your nameplate.  After Arrival at Nepal airport transfer you to the hotel. On the way Airport to Hotel, you will pass by the Open cremation Place (Pashupatinath temple), Royal Palace Museum i.e NarayanhityGarden Of Dream and reach the Thamel. Your hotel will be in downtown of Touristic Hub. Our representative will facilitate you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the street of Thamel.Overnight accommodation at the hotel.

Our tour guide will come to pick you up along with the private vehicle. Firstly you will be visiting the UNESCO world heritage site Kathmandu Durbar Square where you can observe the typical wood carved temples and buildings reflecting the ancient Kathmandu city and then you will be heading towards Swyambhunath- the monkey temple where you can observe the religious harmony and tolerance between the Buddhist religion and Hindu religion along with that enjoy the panoramic view of Kathmandu city and the Himalaya ranges from here. After that, you will be visiting the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest pilgrimage site for the Hindu religion people in south-east Asia, explore the surroundings and you can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process of the Hindu people at the bank of holy Bagmati river and explore the surroundings. Then you will go to visit the another UNESCO world heritage site Boudhanath Stupa. It was built in 600A.D. and is the only one of a kind of stupa reflecting Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa and after completing your sight seen get back to the hotel and rest. Overnight in a hotel.

In the early morning, our jeep will come and pick you up at the hotel you are staying. From Kathmandu, it takes about 8 to 9 hours to reach Phaplu. It is a long journey so just sit back, relax and enjoy the view along the way. Overnight in a hotel/local lodge.

Today, we start our trekking to Nunthala. We then incline towards Takshindo Gompa. At Takshindo, you can visit the Gompa and old cheese factory. After descending from here, you will reach Nunthala.

Continuing our trek with a gentle descent towards the Dudh Koshi River, passing through agricultural pastures and a small Sherpa and Rai villages. From here, we ascent all the way to Kharikhola (2050m.) passing through Juving (1680m.), a quite Rai village. From Kharikhola, you will have a gentle walk for 45 minutes and then proceeds steeply up to the Bupsa where you can see an antique Buddhist Monastery in a ruined state.

The morning starts with a steep ascend towards Khari La Pass (2880m.) and pass through rhododendron and oak forest with a small Sherpa. This viewpoint provides magnificent views of Numbu, Cho-Oyu, Gyangchung Kang, and Thamserku. Afterward, descend gently towards Chaubar village, and reach Puiyan. You will reach Surkey in the evening which is a beautiful Sherpa village at the bottom of Lukla.

The first part of the trek is a gentle ascent to Chipling, a junction road to Jiri and Lukla. From this place, the road is quite broad and busy. Now, your trail is almost flat with a gentle descent and then ascent to Phakding.

Today we will be trekking to Namche Bazaar, also known as Sherpa Capital. We leave Phakding and will reach in Monjo after 3 hours walk passing many suspension bridges with a good view of Mt. Thamserku. After walking for some time, we enter the Sagarmatha National park so you must enter at the check-post. Then we cross a high suspension bridge over the Dudh Kosi River till reaching Namche Bazar which takes about 2 and a half hour.

Namche Bazaar is also known as the Sherpa Capital. You can use your time to acclimatize, relax and explore the surrounding places. Most of the trekkers prefer to get up before sunrise to view the magnificent views of Mount Everest, Thamserku, AmaDablam and other glorious peaks from the Sagarmatha National Park. One can get a chance to observe the shadow of the mountains being projected onto the clouds above and truly appreciate their magnitude. As an energy supplier, one should try salt-butter tea and Champa – a kind of barley often consume by the sherpas in the region.

As you incline towards the forest zone, you will witness the magnificent views of the mountain range. You continue your walk towards the face of the mountain and eventually, you will enter Tengboche from the stone gate built by lamas.

From Tengboche, we enter the altitude beyond the 4,000m mark. The trail drops down to Dingboche, crosses the Imja River and climbs past Mani stones to Pangboche at 3860m. Visit the gompa and then resume our climb to Pheriche. At Pheriche, you can find the Pherice hospital run by Himalayan Rescue Association where you can get information and medication if needed.

Today is an acclimatization day. Due to the increase in altitude, we need to rest before proceeding further. You can also roam the area if you wish.

Enjoy the panoramic views of mountains such as Tawache, Ama Dablam and to the north-Pokalde, Kongma-Tse and the great wall of Nuptse. We then head to Lobuche. Nearly after two hours of long walk, you will merge the walking path near Dugla (4595m) before a small wooden bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier and then reach Lobuche.

From Lobuche, you will continue the trek to Gorakshep. Gorakshep is a major joining point of the classic trek to Everest Base Camp Trek and Kala Pathar and has a great view of the Himalayan range. In the afternoon, visit the Kala Patthar to watch the majestic sunrise. From the viewpoint, we have an excellent panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Khumbutse, Pumori, Lingtren, Changtse (Chinese mountain), Amadablam, Thamserku, Lobuche peak and other peaks all around

In the early morning, we visit EBC which takes about 2 hours. Taking us as much as close to the Everest, we enjoy the view from the base camp and return to Gorakshep. Afterward, we and journey ahead to Lobuche.

Descending down through the terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier, we reach the Pheriche village. Enjoy the beautiful views of Cholatse across the valley. We then ascent for some time to reach Dingboche.

Continuing our journey, we trek through the rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, our trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests before reaching Sansa. We keep a lookout for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc., while passing through the forest. After passing a Chorten, we reach the army camp at Namche Bazaar.

From Namche Bazaar, a few hours of walking will take you to Lukla. In Lukla you can relax and dip yourself into the local culture and lifestyle. On reaching Lukla, we will reflect on the time spent as a group and the personal achievements of all those who took part in the trek.

Enjoy your last glimpse of the mountains you have recently visited for one last time. The flight to Kathmandu leaves before 10:00 am. Sometimes, it differs according to weather conditions. On arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight accommodation in a hotel.

Today, our guide will receive you and then drive you to Patan. You’ll be driven to one of the ancient cities inside Kathmandu valley i.e. Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing. In Patan, you will be visiting another UNESCO World Heritage sites: Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. Later, visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for the both Hindu and Buddhist people, and Banglamukhi Temple. Then after we will be visiting Bhaktapur, you will be amazed by the architecture, as until today the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur. Explore the surroundings and afterward visit the Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temple in Nepal. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods. You will visit the Pottery Square. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods. You will be taught to design your own pot and once you have your basic shape hammered out, you can even choose to adorn your creation with beautiful patterns and inscriptions. Your trip will come to an end today after breakfast. You will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements and transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport by our private van around 3 hours before your flight schedule and flight back to your home/other travel destination.
