Tour Details

Nagarjuna Hill (2128 m), also known as the Jamacho hike, is a popular, short, and easy 1-day hike near Kathmandu in Shivapuri National Park. The most popular pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists is Nagarjuna Hill, also known as Vindhya Mountain, located west of the valley. Our main highlights will be Nagarjuna Durbar Square, Nagarjuna Buddha, and so on.

On Nagarjuna’s hilltop, there is a beautiful Jamacho Monastery with a small statue of Nagarjuna Buddha. Buddhist gods and goddesses line the east side of the stupa. The first row features Mahakala in a meditation pose. In the second row are white tara, green tara, vajrapani, and padmapani. Lastly, in the third row, is Vasundhara.

Aside from that, you can be rewarded with breathtaking views of mountain ranges. Buddha Jayanti and Jamacho Jatra are marked by a special celebration. This national park is comprised of two distinct hill islands: Shivapuri to the north and Nagarjuna to the west of Kathmandu.

A two-hour hike to Jamacho Peak takes you through the dense Raniban forest, which is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Nagarjuna Hill is well-known for its historical and religious significance, as well as the breathtaking views of Jamacho Peak, other ranges, and the entire valley.
