Nepal - 3 Passes Everest Trek (21 days)

The Everest 3 passes trek is a unique life-time experience. The trek bestows you the most amazing views throughout the Everest region. The trek offers numerous mountain villages, beautiful lakes, and alpine forests. The tough climbing trails are worth the climb. You can experience the unique Sherpa culture and tradition throughout the country. 

Starting from Lukla, the trek will continue to Namche Bazaar, Thame and Khumjung. We further climb to Pangboche, Dingboche, Chhukung village and Lobuche. Finally, we get to Gokyo and then to Everest Base Camp. 

During the Three Pass Trek, you will explore the Kongma La and Cho La Passes to enjoy the breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mera peak and many more. While trekking, you go through the forest of Juniper and Rhododendron. In most of the villages, the Sherpa culture is visually present and shared with the tourists.

This itinerary is a guideline only and we will follow the itinerary as far as possible but due to weather conditions, health conditions, natural disasters and other unfavorable phenomenon your guide might decide to amend or cancel the itinerary for your own safety. Your guide will help you at any time with providing information regarding conditions and safety during the treks.

Upon your arrival, Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative welcomes you at the Airport. Then, you will be transferred to the hotel. On the way to the hotel, you will pass by the Open cremation Place (Pashupatinath temple), Royal Palace Museum i.e. Narayanhity and Garden Of Dream.

Your hotel will be located in downtown of Touristic Hub. Our representative shall facilitate you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the street of Thamel.

Our tour guide shall pick you up in a private vehicle. Firstly you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the UNESCO world heritage site. Here, you can observe the typical wood-carved temples and buildings. These structures reflect the history and culture of Kathmandu city.

Then you will be heading towards Swyambhunath- the monkey temple. Here, you can observe the religious harmony and tolerance between the Buddhist religion and the Hindu religion. Also, you can witness the panoramic view of Kathmandu city and the Himalaya ranges. After that, you will be visiting the Pashupatinath Temple. It is one of the biggest pilgrimage sites for the Hindu's in south-east Asia. You can observe the ritual body cremating ceremony at the bank of the holy Bagmati river and explore the surroundings.

Then you will visit another UNESCO world heritage site i.e. Boudhanath Stupa. It was built in 600 A.D. and is the only one of a kind to reflect Buddhism in the world. Explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa and enjoy the peace. After completing your sightseeing, you get back to the hotel and rest.

Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu Airport. From Lukla, we commence to climb up towards Phakding. The trail runs along the Dudh Koshi (Milk River). You will be trekking through amidst Rhododendron forests, while the strong aroma of evergreen oak surrounds you. Along the way, you will pass by many villages until you reach Phakding.

The trail will start relatively easy but will gradually become harder. You will be able to get your first glimpse of Everest as you cross the mighty Dudh Koshi. As you proceed further, the trail will lead you to Monjo, where you could have a stopover for lunch.

The next part of the trail will be more difficult. The trail becomes vertical and the altitude will add on as we head towards Namche. If you experience the shortness of breath at this point, do not increase your pace. Rather, step up slowly and steadily.

You will be making a pit stop at Namche Bazaar to stay the night there. The people around the Solukhumbu region conjugate in this area to do business. There are facilities like shops, restaurants, hotels, a bank, and internet services. Namche Bazaar offers an interesting insight into how people survive in this region.

Namche Bazaar is also known as the Sherpa Capital. You can use your time to acclimatize, relax and explore the surrounding places. Most of the trekkers prefer to get up before sunrise for the magnificent views of Mount Everest.

You can also enjoy the view of Thamserku, Amadablam and other glorious peaks. As you observe the shadow of the Giant Himalayas being projected onto the clouds, you get lost in the beauty of Himalayas. As an energy supplier, try salt-butter tea and Champa. Champa is a kind of barley often consumed by the Sherpas in the region. This lively cultural market is worth a visit. It is usually full of traders desperately trying to sell their products.

We shall be commencing our trek early in the morning. One must be prepared for the drastic and rapid change in climate and temperature. One minute the sun will be glaring fiercely and the next minute darkness has engulfed you. The initial part of the trek is easy-going as it is relatively flat, however, the views will be outrageous.

After a few more hours, you will reach Thame. In the neighboring village, there's a small monastery called Nauje. The Monastery has a stunningly beautiful giant prayer wheel and stones carved in dazzling Nepali colors. We shall have lunch close to the monastery. Then, we continue to walk to gain some extra height.

Overnight accommodation will be in Thame Lodge.

We will begin the trek to Khumjung with an early start. Initially, you will be climbing uphill to the monastery above Thame village. If the weather is fine, you will be able to witness the natural beauty of the majestic landscape combined with the ancient Buddhist culture. After the visit, you will be heading back in the direction of Namche Bazaar towards Khumjung.

The trail eventually widens and follows the contour of the mountain at a slight incline. This village lies at the foot of the sacred peak, called Khumbila. The Monastery was established approximately 340 years ago. It also has the so-called head of a Yeti, popularly known as the Abominable Snowman. It is an ideal place to spend the night.

Today you will start hiking along the old but still used, Everest expedition trail. The trail leads you upwards through the forest which gives off a lovely aroma of Juniper bushes. You might spot some rich Himalayan wildlife like deer, pheasants, and monkeys. This path also offers beautiful views of the mountain ranges. Finally, you will reach Pangboche and spend the night there.

Today, we start our walk towards Dingboche. Dingboche is at the elevation of 4410 m. This means today's trek is going to be quite challenging due to the stones/rocks filled trail. On the way, you will see the forests with a variety of lush trees (birch, conifers, and rhododendron). If you are lucky, you will meet lots of yaks during the walk. This picturesque trail first dips down to Deboche.

Then we cross the suspension bridge over the Imja River and climb to Dingboche. Soon after, we spot a white stupa with gorgeous views Amadablam. This is a marvelous place for a picture! Then the trail ascends gently to the village of Pangboche (3860 m), where we climb above the tree line. Finally, we pass through the numerous grazing lands and reach Dingboche valley.

After Breakfast, as soon as you start to walk, you will see the amazing mountain scenery which you didn't expect. You will climb up Chhukhung Ri 5,550 m. Here, the reward will be valued for above our effort as we find ourselves within access of beautiful peaks. The Breathtaking views of Cho Oyu 8,201 m, Pumori 7,161 m, the Lhotse Wall 8,400 m, Lhotse 8,500 m, Ama Dablam 6,856 m, Makalu 8,481 m and Baruntse 7,129 m will surprise us and prepare us well for what’s ahead. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

After Breakfast, we walk with the amazing mountain scenery. You will climb up Chhukung Ri 5,550 m. Here, your effort will be rewarded will the beautiful views of magnificent peaks. The breathtaking views of Choyu (8,201 m), Pumori (7,161 m), the Lhotse Wall (8,400 m) and Lhotse (8,500 m) will surprise you. Amadablam (6,856 m), Makalu (8,481 m) and Baruntse (7,129 m) are also visible.

Today, you need to walk quite a bit longer than earlier days. We shall cross the first pass called Kongma La (5400 m). Then we shall start our climbing up to the Niyang Khola Valley. A long descent brings us to the edge of the world’s famous Khumbu Glacier. Then, the walk will gradually get easier. After some time, we shall reach Lobuche, our stop for the night.

Today, you trek down to Dzongla through the winding trail which takes about 7 to 8 hours. Dzongla is a small settlement below the Cho La pass. On the way to Dzongla, you’ll enjoy the scenic Cho La Lake along with the greatest views of the Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mera Peak and many more. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

Our journey heads towards the Cho La Pass (5368 m). It's a vertical and a tough climb of about 3 hours over a rocky ridge before reaching the top of the pass. At the top, you will be bestowed with the unbelievable scene of Amadablam, Thamserku, Taboche, and Baruntse and Cholatse.

After crossing the Cho La pass, you hike over the glacier across the snow and ice for about an hour. After lunch, you rest for some time and walk down for around 3 hours through the rocky path to Dragnag. Overnight accommodation will be in a local lodge.

After Breakfast, we shall walk for 1.5 hours. The path first leads uphill before becoming easy. You will get to see the breathtaking views of Gokyo Lake and its surroundings. After some rest, it’s a short climb to the ridge where you can explore the amazing view of the Glacier.

Today, you will enjoy the best day of the entire trail! Although it is called a rest day, you will explore the surroundings of Gokyo. You can hike to Gokyo Ri located at 5,360 m. Also, there is another hill on the north side of the DudhPokhari that takes around 2 to 3 hours of walk.

From the summit, you can have an overview of Choyu, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse, Taboche, and the Ngozumpa Glacier. Another option to spend the day is hiking up the Gokyo valley to explore more glacial lakes.

Today we start early, heading for the upper trail west of Gokyo Lake towards Renjo La pass (5,415 m). After climbing a steep sandy ridge for about 3 hours, we will reach the top of Renjo La. From the top, we get the fabulous views of peaks above 7000 m and 8000 m high. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse, and Taboche are clearly visible.

Continuing the pass, we will head through the pathway of stone stairs that leads to a small serene lake. After another 4 hours walk, we reach Lungdun (4,380 m).

After Breakfast your day starts with a downhill walk through the Rhododendron forest. Once you get to the bottom of the hill, you cross the suspension bridge. Then, it’s a steep climb through the pine and Juniper forest to Khumjung. After some rest, you can explore the Khumjung village. The walk after lunch continues towards Namche Bazaar.

After Breakfast, you will continue the trek through the Chumoa village. It's a beautiful village to stop for lunch. After lunch, you will walk along the riverside to Phakding and then head towards Lukla. After a few hours of walking, you will reach Lukla. In Lukla, you can relax and dip yourself into the local culture and lifestyle. On reaching Lukla, we shall reflect on the time spent as a group. We will celebrate the personal achievements of all those who took part in the trek.

After Breakfast, you have a flight back to Kathmandu. According to weather condition, there might be some fluctuation in the flight time. When the flight lands in Kathmandu Airport, our representative will pick you up and transfer to your hotel.

Today our guide will pick up and drive you to Bhaktapur. You will visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bhaktapur Durbar Square. First, we shall explore the surroundings and afterwards visit the Nyatapola Temple. It is one of the biggest temples in Nepal.

You will visit the Pottery Square. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods. Once you have your basic shape hammered out, you can adorn your creation with beautiful patterns and inscriptions. Afterwards, you'll be driven to one Patan, an ancient city inside Kathmandu valley.

Patan Durbar Square is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will be visiting Krishna Temple and Patan Resume. Here, you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. Later, visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for both Hindu and Buddhist people.

Then after, you will visit Kirtipur which is the historical town of the Newar community. it is famous for preserving its architecture and culture beauty. In Kirtipur, you’ll do a quick visit to Bagh Bhairav temple, Chilancho Stupa, Uma Maheshwar, etc.

Your trip will come to an end today. First, you will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements. Then, we shall transfer you to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. You will reach the airport 3 hours before your flight schedule.
