Nepal - Ghorepani Poonhill Trek (11 Days)

Poonhill is the beautiful ridge located inside the Annapurna region. It offers the best sunrise views set against the backdrop of majestic mountains. Ghorepani Poonhill trek is one of the popular treks in Nepal. One can take the short Poonhill trekking package to the enchanting ridge of Poonhill. The trek passes through culturally rich villages like Ghorepani, Ghandruk, Tikhedhunga e.t.c. Along with the sunrise view, Poonhill offers views of mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. 

Heading north of Pokhara, we will take an hour of drive to Nayapul. We will leave the wide pitch black road and follow the off the beaten trekking trail. Overall, this trail passes through the rivers, dense rhododendrons forest and Gurung settlements. 

This itinerary is a guideline only and we will follow the itinerary as far as possible but due to weather conditions, health conditions, natural disasters and other unfavorable phenomenon your guide might decide to amend or cancel the itinerary for your own safety. Your guide will help you at any time with providing information regarding conditions and safety during the treks.

Asian Heritage Treks & Travel representative welcomes you at the Airport with your nameplate.  After Arrival at Nepal airport, we will transfer you to the Hotel. On the way Airport to Hotel, you will pass by the Pashupatinath Temple,  Royal Palace Museum i.e. Narayanhiti, Garden of Dreams and reach Thamel. Your hotel will be in downtown of Touristic Hub. Our representative will facilitate you and discuss your travel itinerary. There will be enough time to stroll through the street of Thamel.

After Breakfast, our tour guide will pick you up along with the driver and a vehicle. Firstly you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO world heritage site where you can observe the typical wood-carved temples and buildings reflecting the ancient Kathmandu city. Afterwards, we will head towards Swyambhunath- the monkey temple where you can observe the panoramic view of Kathmandu city.
Then after, you will visit the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the biggest pilgrimage sites for the Hindu religion people in south-east Asia. You will explore the surroundings and observe the ritual body cremating ceremony process of the Hindu people. We can also visit another pilgrimage site nearby to the Pashupatinath Temple i.e. Guweyswori Temple.
Lastly, we will visit Boudhanath Stupa, another UNESCO world heritage site. The stupa was built in 600 A.D. and is the only one of a kind of Stupa which reflects Buddhism in the world. We shall explore the surroundings of Boudhanath Stupa. After completing our sightseeing, you can get back to the hotel and enjoy some rest.

Today, our guide will receive you and then drive you to Patan. You’ll be driven to one of the ancient cities inside Kathmandu valley i.e. Patan Durbar Square. In Patan, you will be visiting other UNESCO World Heritage sites. We will visit Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. Later, visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for both Hindu and Buddhist people. Then-after, we will be visiting Bhaktapur. You will be amazed by the architecture of the place.
Until today, the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur. We will visit the Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temples in Nepal. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods.
You will visit the Pottery Square. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods. Here, you will be taught to design your own pot. Once you have your basic shape hammered out, you can even choose to adorn your creation.

Today, we will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. On the way, you can enjoy the greenery of the beautiful hills. Pokhara is rich with its pure and intact natural beauty. Just imagine the joy of observing the shadow of the Himalayas reflecting on Fewa Lake. The valley is equally outstanding with elevated close-ups to the snowy peaks. Pokhara is famous for sightseeing, mountain views, and many adventurous outdoor activities. We will visit David’s Waterfall, Gupteswor Mahadev, and International Mountain Museum.

Our trekking guide shall pick you up from your hotel in a private vehicle. Then we will be driving to Nayapul (1050 m). You will start walking through the old villages and meandering green hills. Terraced paddy fields along the neighboring yet distant hills make the surrounding beautiful. The wind gushing in your face makes for a pleasant and smooth drive with enough time to enjoy the landscape. Continue walking through the easy trail which passes along paddy fields to Tikhedhunga.

Getting back on the trail, you will be rising up at a slow and gentle pace, passing through Ulleri (2070 m). There a lot of opportunities to interact with the locals and learn. You can understand and get the pure experience of their lifestyle. Along the way, one can enjoy the majestic view of Machhapuchhre (6997 m), Huinchuli (6441 m), and Annapurna South (7219 m).

You will begin the trek to Poon Hill (3210 m) in the early morning to catch the first ray of sunlight. The pleasant sunrise at Poonhill trek will remain in your memories forever. Along with the sunrise view, you can witness the mount ranges of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Then, you will return to Ghorepani for breakfast. After breakfast, start trekking to Tadaoani village. The trek begins through the thick forest of rhododendrons, bamboos, and oaks. On the trail, one can appreciate nature’s beauty, waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds, and green valleys.

You start to trek through the forest, villages, and streams. After a continuous walk of 3 to 4 hours, you will see the beautiful Gurung village called Ghandruk. This place will be our stopover for tonight. Use the remaining time to explore, interact with the locals, and visit the home of Gurung people. They are the ethnic group of Nepal with unique cultures and traditions. This place provides a fantastic view of Annapurna south, Hiuchuli and Fishtail.

Today is your last day of trekking. After having breakfast, you will commence walking downhill to Nayapul. Here, you will catch the vehicle and return back to Pokhara. Today, your walking will be quiet easy. As you reach Nayapul, you will catch the vehicle and drive back to Pokhara.

You will drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. On the way, you can see the beautiful hills and slopes. Later, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel for shopping. You can also buy souvenirs for your friends and family.

Your trip will come to an end today. First, you will be advised and assisted with your onward travel arrangements. Then, we shall transfer you to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport. You will reach the airport 3 hours before your flight schedule.
