DAMAN-CHITLANG TOUR

Posted By: Roman , August 2019

Day 1 Daman

Asian Heritage Treks & Expeditions organized a Daman-Chitlang tour and I was very excited about the trip from the very beginning. We were on a Jeep by 8'o clock in the morning. The singing and playing madal on the way made travel a lot more fun and exciting.  After a 4-5 hours drive, we reached Daman (2400m), a beautiful village located 80 km south-west of Kathmandu. We stayed at Mountain View and Daman resort and got ready for day meal as I was quite hungry. The Panoramas from the viewing tower or hill station was mesmerizing, I peeped through the mounted telescope to look upon the unchallenged beauty of the Himalayas. The most well-known peaks and hiking destinations in Nepal can be seen here. They include Phurbi Chyachu, Choba Bhamre, Annapurna and Mount Everest. Around the tower, visitors will be mesmerized by the abundant variety of flowers and wild orchids that decorate the dense forests. Another attraction in Daman is the Tibetan Buddhist Monastery that is approximately a thirty-minute leisurely walk away from the village. The Indra Sarobwor and Rishikeshwor Mahadev Temple are also extremely interesting sights to visit. Most of the attractions and sights can only be reached on foot, and visitors are recommended to pack comfortable walking shoes while staying in Daman. The friendly people, cultural lifestyle, the panoramic views offered a truly new adventure. I found the seclusion, tranquility, and quiet that is so hard to find in many tourist destinations in Nepal. At the late evening, we gathered around the camp for BBQ and started singing and dancing at the resort. Accommodation: Mountain View Resort

Day 2: Drive to Markhu & Hike to Chitlang

Markhu is another place, mostly popular as Indrasarowar. It is the largest manmade lake in Nepal and is the only reservoir based hydropower in Nepal, the Kulekhani dam. The lake lies between the gorge of Markhu and Kulekhani VDC. After 1/2 hours drive, we reached Markhu at 10 pm and started having day meal. The suspension bridge offered a peaceful view of the Markhu. We went for boating at the Markhu. After the hike of ¾ hours from Markhu, we reached Chitlang and stayed at Chitlang organic village resort, located at 1833 m, 22 km southwest of Kathmandu Valley in mid-hills called Mahabharat Range, Chitlang is a hiker’s paradise. On the way we saw the beautiful landscape, crossing through beautiful villages. It comprises magnificent landscape, delightful scenes, and green dense forest so hiking/trekking is the best option to explore Chitlang. Moreover, Chitlang is well known for organic products and especially Goat cheese. Exploring Chitlang – getting in touch with Newari culture, people’s lifestyle, capturing beautiful sceneries, and trying new things, your foot won’t get tired. At the evening get ready for barbeques, songs, and dancing. Accommodation:  Chitlang Organic Resort

Day 3 Hike from Chitlang to Thankot & Bus drive to Kathmandu

We reached Thankot hiking steep narrow hills from Chitlang, the hills were slippery and we to take care of steps. After ups and downs of hiking in the hills, we reached Thankot after 3 and a half hours. Then our bus drove off to Ktm which took 2 hours as we got stuck in traffic.
