To reach the Trail head we go by bus to jiri (one whole day) the first two days we follow the old route, and then we branch off in to the new area. Here we find interesting villages with a mix of Buddhism and Hinduism. We pass monasteries, temples and pilgrimage place. A highlight is pike Peak (4070m.) from which the summit of Mt. Everest seems to be lower than our viewpoint! We continue via a large Buddhist Monastery to a series of beautiful lakes of which Dudh Kunda (4190M) is the most revered.
In between the culture spots and typical village there are forest s of Rhododendrons (In March and April full with pink and crimson flowers!) Pine, seamed with plants and shrubs. Bunches of monkeys live a happy life and we can spot deer and other animals. The snow peaks of Makalu (8475m) Kanchenjunga (8598m) Numbur (6959m.) Gaurishankar (7135m.) and Mt. Everest (8848m.) their neighbors will give you a thrill!!!
