INTRODUCTION
Most
of you know already how wonderful a country Nepal
is for trekking, rafting and other outdoor activities.
So this we will not discuss further.
However
we do want to introduction our new trekking routes,
tested by ourselves, going through adventurous country.
This means there are no lodges available. You will
sleep in –of course-tents or with local families
( home stay). Closer to nature and culture you cannot
be. The trekking are on full board basis.
All routes can be extended by combi’s with
other trekking, rafting, visit to Chitwan National
Park, sight-seeing etc.
Some
new treks are supported by SNV (Dutch Foundation
for Volunteers) and UNDP(United Nations Development
Projects) under cover of the poverty Alleviation
Program). This is the case with the Chepang Hills,
Tamang Heritage Trail and Solu South.
To
prevent that the new areas will be burdened with
eco-problem, we honour a number of rules.
On
social level our goal is to support as many Nepalese
families as possible. By making a camping trek you
give many people a job, income, education and motivation.
We protect our porters from too heavy loads and
our staff is well insured. Also we support a number
of social projects.
Two
of our new destinations are a combination of camping
and home stay.
What is a camping trek?
You sleep-of course-in a tent on most attractive
spots. Porters, who use bamboo “doko’s”
with a special headband, carry Camping gear. Our
team pitches the tents and our kitchen staff prepares
heavenly meals. Food is served in the dining tent.
You are free of any duty. In the evening there is
often music, dancing and singing. Almost every Nepali
is an artist by nature!
What
is home stay?
You stay with local families, where you are introduced
to their customs and delicious food. Often a colorful,
amusing song- and dance program is performed by
the local Club, by which you will enjoy the natural
happiness of the people.
You
can make a camping / home stay trekking in two fascinating
areas: Chepang Hills and Tamang Heritage Trail.
The
Sikles Trek is a forgotten little jewel of serene
silence and atmosphere north of Pokhara.
The
Solu South Trek offers among others a surprising
new view on Mt. Everest…
You
will not (yet!) find these new destinations elsewhere.
We are not going to make a big story about them,
because we want to protect the areas from mass-tourism.
This program will only be sent to a selected group
of Nepal-lovers.
We hope that you will want-together with us-to make
these new routes into a success and by doing so
support Nepal and her people, while you enjoy a
lovely holiday in unrivalled nature.
We
will be glad to answer your questions about this
program. Contact us by E-mail or phone. On our Website,
you will find more information about Nepal and the
lodge-and teahouse trekking.
Finally for “newcomers” a short
explanation about what a trekking is:
It
is a walking tour of some days to as many days as
you like. There are very easy and very difficult
(e.g. Trekking Peaks, for which you need some
mountaineering experience) treks, and everything
in between. Walks are around 5-6 hours per day.
Sometimes there will be a rest day to acclimatize
(for altitude) or when the area is worth more time.
Porters will carry the luggage. These men are proud
of their jobs and happy to do it. You carry your
own daypack. There are tea-and lunch stops. The
Nepalese guide speaks English, knows the way, gives
information about nature, culture and history and
helps where necessary. Nights are spent in lodges,
teahouses, tents or local private houses (home stay).
Most people, who ever made one trekking in Nepal,
want to come back!
